A selection of the many reviews we have received from people who have stayed at the Beeches.
What a wonderfully relaxing stay in such a stunning home, surrounded by beautiful, natural grounds.
Myself and my husband wanted a weekend break, ideally somewhere rural but close enough to drive to some nice local pubs, villages and towns, and we weren’t disappointed with our choice.
Sandy was extremely welcoming prior to, and during our stay.
Breakfast was fabulous, with homemade apple juice, jam, honey, lovely coffee/tea and a cooked breakfast on offer, with black pudding from the local farm shop (so nice!!!). The choice included, bacon, eggs, sausages, beans, tomatoes, beans, mushrooms, eggs were cooked how you requested and laid out so nicely.
The mattress and bedding felt luxurious and the house just has a natural warmth about it. We stayed in the French room and really liked the shower, very powerful, and Sandy had thoughtfully left good quality toiletries for us to use. The bathroom for the French room is separate to the bedroom, and Sandy left dressing gowns for us to slip on which were handy to head the bathroom, and it is literally next door so wasn’t an issue for us.
The walled garden is lovely, and we stayed in March and even at this time of year it was so nice. In the summer it must be amazingly beautiful.

We absolutely love staying at The Beeches. The gorgeous rooms and beautiful gardens always leave us feeling restored and uplifted. Sandy & Kim’s generous hospitality (and delicious breakfast) tops off a wonderful experience. A perfect Sussex get-away!

Thank you, Sandy & Kim, for the most lovely weekend break. You are super hosts; beautiful rooms, long hot baths in the rolltop, fresh honey for breakfast (which we helped collect from the hive!), an incredible walled garden and even an electric sofa to drive! Wish we could have stayed longer, but we’ll see you again very soon, so put the kettle on!

Dear Sandy
Thank you for taking such great care of us. Everything was just perfect. You and your husband couldn’t have made us (my mum and I ) feel more welcome and nothing was too much trouble. We will be recommending your beautiful home and garden to family and friends.

What a wonderful home and garden ! The location is perfect for a weekend away with super pubs and lovely scenery. We were made so welcome and would return any time to see the garden change throughout the seasons.

I came with friends and my partner Heather to attend at my son’s wedding in a nearby village. Nothing prepared me for The Beeches – it is, simply, the most magical place I have ever stayed in and my whole weekend centred around being nurtured at breakfast time, absurdly well provided with comfort in our bedroom, and toured by Kim around the gardens – which are magical in themselves – . helped with taxis, dinners booked without any hassle AT ALL and I came home wondering if, after all, My friends and I had actually found a real A Midsummer Night’s Dream of a place.. So, lots of “wonderful’s” from me, Heather, Lloyd, Micki, Richard and Claire

Four miles north of Lewes in bucolic Barcombe, this rambling country house b&b set in six acres of much-loved gardens is popular with the summer Glyndebourne set. But its serene South Downs location, romantic rooms and topnotch breakfast makes for a relaxing country escape all year round.

Wonderful B & B in the most beautiful setting – the gardens are an absolute delight and like walking into a Merchant Ivory production ….

Dear Sandy
We are still talking about our wonderful stay at The Beeches in beautiful Sussex, and so is our little son who treasures his very special marble. How generous of you to open up your beautiful house and garden, which went straight into the top league of special places we have visited around Britain. A house and garden that oozes history and a wonderful mix of classiness and informality. Your passion and obvious talent for interior, art, colours, and gardening is tremendously inspirational. So is your very genuine way of treating your guests in such a warm and accommodating way. Elegant and spotless rooms, delicious breakfast with the best apple juice we have ever tasted. This is a rare combination and skill to have – and you are setting the bar high for anyone else. We would love to come back and feel fortunate that we have discovered this most perfect place to stay.
