We offer a series of seasonal horticultural and related courses at The Beeches Barcombe. Each course is presented by a lecturer with expertise in the specific subject.

Pruning is one job in the garden that a lot of people are unsure about. Incorrect pruning can result in loss of flowers and fruits, misshapen plants and sometimes death of plants. During this instructive and practical course you will be taught some golden rules on how to prune and when. There will also be time in the day to prune a range of plants in the garden including roses, climbers and free-standing shrubs.
Time: 10.00am – 4.00pm
Please arrive at 9.30am for a prompt 10.00am start.
Full day courses will include all materials where relevant, refreshments and a 2 course lunch with wine.

Laurie McMillan is a Sussex based professional gardener with over 25 years’ experience. During this time she also lectured for nine years at Plumpton College in East Sussex where she delivered a wide range of both practical and theoretical Horticulture courses. Laurie has an extensive knowledge of the care of plants and the conditions in which they flourish. She has the ability to share her knowledge in a passionate and caring way, bringing together her love of plants with her joy of teaching to create a learning experience that is informative, supportive and fun.
