We offer a series of seasonal horticultural and related courses at The Beeches Barcombe. Each course is presented by a lecturer with expertise in the specific subject.

This is a very popular day course which covers a wide range of subjects to include soil types and their management, vegetable groups and their growing requirements, crop rotation, feeding, extending the growing season, green manures, pests and diseases and companion planting. This is an invaluable course for anyone wanting to learn how to grow vegetables.
Time: 10.00am – 4.00pm
Please arrive at 9.30am for a prompt 10.00am start.
Minimum 8 - maximum 12 on each course
Full day courses will include all materials where relevant, refreshments and a 2 course lunch with wine.

Laurie McMillan is a Sussex based professional gardener with over 25 years’ experience. During this time she also lectured for nine years at Plumpton College in East Sussex where she delivered a wide range of both practical and theoretical Horticulture courses. Laurie has an extensive knowledge of the care of plants and the conditions in which they flourish. She has the ability to share her knowledge in a passionate and caring way, bringing together her love of plants with her joy of teaching to create a learning experience that is informative, supportive and fun.
