We offer a series of seasonal horticultural and related courses at The Beeches Barcombe. Each course is presented by a lecturer with expertise in the specific subject.

Garden Design allows you to think about your garden as a paper exercise of ideas before committing to the long-term changes.
This term (10 weeks) covers the principles and history of garden design which help guide you through the myriad of ideas you’ll have for your garden. Laurie will explain the horticultural importance of soils, sun and aspect including the use of trees in the garden. There will be a visit to two Sussex gardens with the aim of inspiring ideas for your own garden.
Time: 10.00am – 1.00pm

Minimum 8 - maximum 12 on each course
1 term (10 weeks) – £450.00

Nigel Philips is a Sussex based professional garden designer with over 30 years’ experience. During this time he also lectured at Plumpton College in East Sussex where he delivered a wide range of both practical and theoretical garden design and garden history courses. Nigel has designed more than 500 gardens and is a Fellow of the Society of Garden Designers. Laurie complements Nigel’s design knowledge with her extensive experience with plants and planting designs. Like Nigel, she has the ability to share her knowledge in a passionate and caring way, bringing together her love of plants with her joy of teaching to create a learning experience that is informative, supportive and fun.
