We offer a series of seasonal horticultural and related courses at The Beeches Barcombe. Each course is presented by a lecturer with expertise in the specific subject.

The Beeches is opening its doors for a new course.
Held on the first Thursday of every month, excluding January and August. People attending the course will have the opportunity to work alongside an experienced horticulturalist in all areas of this magnificent garden, learning a range of practical tasks to include:
Pruning and training, seed and vegetative propagation, plant identification, vegetable and fruit growing, soil types and composting, herbaceous bed maintenance, design principles, among other subjects.
Our aim is to provide a supportive, fun and inspiring course in the stunning surroundings of an 18th century country house. This course is for both beginners and people with more experience.
The course launches in September 2019, but people are welcome to join at any month during the year.
Time: 10.00am – 4.00pm
Please arrive at 9.30am for a prompt 10.00am start
Minimum 8 - maximum 12 on each course
Full day courses will include all materials where relevant, refreshments and a 2 course lunch with optional wine.

Laurie McMillan is a Sussex based professional gardener with over 25 years’ experience. During this time she also lectured for nine years at Plumpton College in East Sussex where she delivered a wide range of both practical and theoretical Horticulture courses. Laurie has an extensive knowledge of the care of plants and the conditions in which they flourish. She has the ability to share her knowledge in a passionate and caring way, bringing together her love of plants with her joy of teaching to create a learning experience that is informative, supportive and fun.
